BRAZILIAN VEGETARIAN SOCIETY (SVB) MEETING at Pousada TerraViva, near Brasilia, November 2003
This was a most delightful experience in beautiful countryside 45 km from Brasilia. The Pousada (Inn) TerraViva is in a preservation area and is part of the move towards Eco-Tourism. All the food provided is vegetarian and a wonderful variety of fresh fruit and vegetables are served.
The theme of the meeting was "O Vegetarianismo na Óptica das Religiões" in English (roughly) "Vegetarianism from the viewpoint of Religions". Related topics were included, eg. Vegetarian Nutrition, Yoga, and Ti-Chi as well as vegan cookery demonstrations.
I gave a talk "Vegetarianism and the Order of the Cross". I very much enjoyed meeting everyone and the walks to the nearby waterfalls were most delightful. As well as the mighty Iguaçu Falls in southern Brazil there are hundreds of small waterfalls; bathing in the pool at the bottom of a waterfall is a favourite relaxation.
