Welcome to my musical website. Here you will be able to download and listen to a few samples of my musical creations. With the exception of the Hauptwerk demos (see bottom of this page), all the sounds were generated on a PC using Tascam's GigaStudio software sampler. All the demos are in mp3 format (mostly 128 bps, a few at 192 bps) and vary from about 30 secs to 3 mins in length. I hope you find something enjoyable -- even perhaps inspiring -- amongst this material. Orchestral Compositions The following short excerpts are from compositions written for large ensemble or orchestra: Wedding Music written for my brother's wedding. Scored for orchestral strings, brass and percussion. (Sound libraries used are: VSL, LOP and QLRI) Symphonic Passacaglia for full orchestra. 22 variations based on a repeating bass line and associated harmonic progression. (Sound libraries used are: GOS, XSample, QLB, and AO) Symphonic Slow Movement Excerpt 1 written in a lyrical Romantic style. Uses Garritan Orchestral Strings. Symphonic Slow Movement Excerpt 2 from the "trio" section of the same piece. Features woodwind in addition to strings. (GOS and XSample) Experimental Piece for Twelve Brass Instruments in "modern" style. Realized here using Dan Dean's Solo Brass sample library. Experimental Piece for String Orchestra another short piece in "modern" style. Uses Garritan Orchestral Strings. Experimental Piece for Percussion Ensemble uses samples from DS Sounds (London Orchestral Percussion, Ultimate Marimba and Vibes) Chamber Music The following solo or chamber music compositions were developed from improvisations: String Trio "Fughetta" a short contrapuntal piece scored for violin, viola and cello (Kirk Hunter Solo Strings). "Gypsy Lament" for solo violin (Kirk Hunter) and piano (Artvista Malmso) accompaniment. "Humoresque" for french horn (Dan Dean Solo Brass) and piano (PMI Boesendorfer). Fantasy Sonatina Excerpt A very brief excerpt from a longer piece for oboe d'amore (XSample) and piano (PMI Steinway). Duo for Viola and English Horn Both instruments are from the XSample series. "Western Isle" for Irish low whistle (Quantum Leap Rare Instruments) and harp (XSample). Fantasy Etude for solo piano (PMI Steinway). Pieces for Organ I enjoy playing the pipe organ more than any other instrument. Here are a few improvisations and compositions recorded using GigaStudio pipe organ sample libraries: Short Piece in Baroque Style played here on Post Positiv Organ. Scherzo played on Post Theatre Organ. Organ Sonata Excerpt in "modern" style. Uses 3D Pipes from VR Sounds. The following pieces were recorded using Hauptwerk virtual pipe organ software: Prelude played on a sampled Czech Baroque organ from Sonus Paradisi Recitative played on another sampled Czech Baroque organ also from Sonus Paradisi. Fantasia played on the same organ as the previous piece. Toccata played on a sampled Italian Baroque organ from Organ Art Media. Intermezzo played on a sampled German Romantic organ also from Organ Art Media. Finale played on the same organ as the previous piece.
